Simon Wilhelm on the move to adults-only at Holzleiten.
A new dimension of Tranquillity.
Peace and quiet, taken to the next level. Maximum relaxation and deep regeneration: Holzleiten Nature Hideaway is beginning an inspired new chapter. From June 2026, the hotel will refine its focus to better serve guests seeking stillness as an adults-only retreat (ages 14 and up). In this interview, owner Simon Wilhelm explains why this shift isn’t a radical change, but the natural evolution of a philosophy that treats silence as the ultimate luxury and creates dedicated space for genuine mindfulness.

“Hotel Holzleiten is becoming the epitome of mindful getaways for adults.”
– Simon Wilhelm, Hotel Owner
Mr. Wilhelm, how would you describe Holzleiten in three words? Tranquillity. Retreat. Regeneration. We have spent years consistently developing Holzleiten into a place of mindfulness. Our focus is simple: maximum quiet and deep relaxation. Those who visit us should find the space to truly arrive – leaving the noise of everyday life behind to find nothing but the time to breathe deeply.
From spring 2026, Holzleiten will move forward as an adults-only retreat (ages 14 and above). Why this step? Because we believe that true relaxation requires the space to fully unwind. Many of our guests come to us specifically seeking a sanctuary – a place where silence is not the exception, but the natural state. By becoming adults-only, we are simply refining our existing philosophy. It is not a reorientation, but a clearer focus on what has always defined us: Nature. Tranquillity. Enjoyment. And the luxury of time for yourself.
How does the adults-only concept align with the hotel’s vision? From its inception, Holzleiten has been designed as a sanctuary for tranquillity and wellness. Our architecture and atmosphere are intentionally crafted for slowing down and finding peace. A traditional family hotel requires specific infrastructure – play zones, childcare, and separate water areas – which would shift our core focus. We have chosen to clearly define what Holzleiten stands for: Specialization creates quality. This allows us to offer adults the dedicated space they seek, while allowing families to choose destinations specifically tailored to their needs.
Was this an easy decision to make? No, not at all. Families and children have been a cherished part of our hotel’s history, and we hold many wonderful memories of the time they spent with us. We truly value those years. However, as Holzleiten has evolved, it has become clear that our path is leading in a different direction: toward becoming a dedicated sanctuary for adults who seek a conscious timeout and who value peace and quiet as the ultimate luxury.

Why did you set the age limit at 14? Guests aged 14 and above have a deep appreciation for wellness, nature, and fine cuisine. They value a calm atmosphere and respect the quiet of our sanctuary. For us, this age limit provides a balanced framework – one that aligns with our vision while still offering young adults the opportunity to experience a truly mindful break.
Was there a specific trigger for this decision? No. This transition isn’t a reaction; it’s an evolution. For years, we have observed a growing desire for a slower pace of life among our guests. Many have shared how much they value the profound stillness found here at Holzleiten. We are simply following that path to its natural conclusion – focusing entirely on the art of slowing down.
What specifically will change for guests? The spirit of Holzleiten remains exactly as it has always been. Our commitment to organic quality, our sustainable philosophy, our warm family atmosphere, and our 45 rooms, plus the spacious spa and natural swimming pond all stay the same. What will be enhanced is the profound sense of tranquillity. In our spa, in the restaurant, and in our relaxation rooms, the focus is not on rules or restrictions, but on a naturally calm and easy-going atmosphere.
Does this make Holzleiten more exclusive? Exclusive in the sense of being clearly positioned? Yes. But certainly not in the sense of being elitist. We remain a family-run establishment defined by warmth and personal connection. “Adults-only” is not about exclusion; it is a promise of profound tranquillity and deep regeneration.
What role does sustainability play in this new chapter? A fundamental one. For us, sustainability extends beyond environmental care; it is an inner conviction. Transparency and authenticity are vital components of that philosophy – as is the courage to follow a path that stays true to our values. We live and breathe organic principles in every area, from our energy and building materials to our kitchen. Moving to an adults-only concept is simply the next expression of that consistency.

What would you like to say to your guests in conclusion? That this decision isn’t about taking anything away – it is about giving something back:
Time.
Space.
Tranquillity.
Holzleiten remains a place where you instinctively find your own rhythm. Surrounded by nature, mountain air, the scent of larch wood, and authentic organic cuisine, we provide something that cannot be staged: genuine regeneration. By moving forward with this new chapter, we are simply opening our doors even wider to the future of mindful travel.
