Our Commitment to Nature
Environmental awareness has always been a core value for our family. Living amidst the breathtaking Alpine splendor of the Mieming Plateau has deepened our desire to preserve this unique region, guided by the principle: think globally, act locally. With our hotel concept, we have embraced the opportunity to operate sustainably across all areas of our house.
We recognize that hotels require significant energy. Therefore, transitioning away from fossil fuels and high-emission energy sources was a top priority in our planning. Our ecological solution is built upon four environmentally friendly pillars:
Solar power: We have installed a 160 m² solar thermal system on our roof. This high-efficiency system covers a substantial portion of our heating requirements, performing at its peak from late spring through early autumn.
Geothermal energy: When solar output is insufficient, our second system activates. Eleven geothermal probes, reaching depths of 110 meters, harness the earth’s constant thermal energy. Using a heat pump and brine solution, this energy is transported to the surface and stored in advanced heat exchangers and thermal buffers.
Intelligent energy management: To achieve maximum efficiency, these two technologies are perfectly synchronized via a sophisticated computer-controlled system. This intelligent visualization allows us to coordinate all components, ensuring the energy requirements of Hotel Holzleiten are met with precision and minimal waste.
Certified organic excellence: The final pillar of our commitment is our transition to organic quality. From the ingredients in our kitchen to our professional spa cosmetics, the majority of our offerings are certified organic – guaranteeing they are produced in harmony with nature.
Our impact: To ensure reliability during peak winter periods or for hot water production, a conventional system remains available as a backup. However, our commitment to green energy has already yielded significant results:
- CO2 savings via solar energy (to 31 July 2023): 224,473 kg
- CO2 savings via geothermal energy (to 31 July 2023): 161,215 kg
